Within this project i hope to broaden my view on art and branch out a discover new artists, I've been looking at illustrators and some have stood out more than others some of the names that have stood out to me are; Mimi Leung, Budi Kwan, Apfel Zet and Yau Hoong. These illustrators have some common aspects like colour uses and the layouts. Seeing what these illustrators have done has made me want to try my best to create a good piece of art.
This is a Mimi Leung image of a boy with a colourful brain and funny expression, it really appealed to me when I first saw it, his fun expression and chaotic brain really shows what its like to be young and free which is something that no many people have obtained in later life. The colours used were a good part of the picture too, his thoughts were colourful and flowing and the colour really did show that I mean every colour in the rainbow was used in the head.
This piece is completely different to the first using only 3 main colours but it really got me thinking when I saw it, to some it could be just a picture of a man painting light but I saw two things this man could be the painters hand or it could be how we as people see and interpret the things we see in life I mean the most complicated things could be made simple in a picture. The colours are just really simple but... they do really paint a picture for the person looking at this image.
Budi Kwan a well known illustrator uses a simple outline/silhouette but molds a complicate clockwork
within its such a good idea, on the outside we all look relatively the same but on the inside who really knows what people actually think. He used 3 colours in this which contrast each other and shows what the focal point of the picture is. I think this I may use colours to show the important parts of my future images
Chon Lamb I never lie, it’s a really cool take on a classic animation. I like this as it has humor to it but also shows a really good piece of art also I like the way he has interpreted I never lie into the main character using his wooden nose to do so. The colours are really washed out but its still very distinguished
I’m not sure of the artists name who created this but it really stood out to me the colours are bold colours and contrast each other so it really stands out. Go everywhere do everything is most likely a quote from something but some people could find this simple piece really appealing
Apfel Zet a german artist known for doing architectural illustration and using well known cities within his work. this piece resonated with me as soon as i looked at it, it reminded me of Futurama and shows a hustling city and a really cool skyline. i think this could influence future work as the design and colours used are just amazing.
When i saw this i just though it was cool a panda which is a cute but deadly animal with what looks out be blood around it mouth but also made "nicer or cute" by adding a pallet of colours, to me this really made me think how we as humans interpret what we see, we don't see panda's as dangerous but we've got to respect the fact that they are wild animals.
This is another Tang Yau Hoong piece of a man in a small boat rowing in what seems to be the pixelated end, i found this cool cause of the way you see what the world he was on was made of and the colour were just block colours nothing special and shows how something so simple can be taken so well also in the current times a lot of things we see are built on computers and made up of pixels i guess this shows the world in a whole new way.
This piece is a Dan Mcarthy and it stood out to me the way the houses were flat colours and reminded me of a game i had played call the walking dead in which the scenery was built up of flat colours like this picture above, all together i thought it was a really clever piece and could really influence my work that i do in the future as it shows things differently.
This picture seemed to jump of the page to me and made me laugh which i think made me look at it in the first place i found the humour a big part of this and i would love to interpret this into my work as i like to make people laugh so to see someone do the same with my work would be truly amazing.
This is the work of a pretty unknown artist by the name of BTANK i like the way you know he did this from scratch and you can see every stroke of the brush giving a truly organic feel to the picture and i thought a portrait may be a good idea to look at for future ideas and it could add something different to my work.
Superman, who doesn't like the big strong superman? well in this picture i like the way his clothes are deteriorating as he looks down feeling the way he looks. this by a girl by the name of Fiona Meng who is known for doing emotional pictures and i think this is a great example of one.
This is illustration of famous rapper 2pac but is shown to be on paper with the image, i found this idea really cool because its something different and shows how much the artist has thought about their work when creating this, they have used a multitude of colours orange to purple and it works really well as though the sun is setting and bouncing off 2pacs face. I honestly think this could influence my work as it takes a portrait illustration t another level more than just a face its truly inspiring.
Eboy a huge illustrator who chooses some of the most famous cities in the world to intertwine with his amazing work, vibrant colours and cartoon looking images make you know who created this upon seeing it. Eboy's work appeals to me because of the creativity used and the way he puts the images in his mind into artistic form, it also reminded me of animations such as Futurama and the Simpsons which are amazing in themselves.
This piece just made my eyes lock onto it, its such a clever piece using simple aspects of life and using them in a truly amazing illustration, the way the top hat has been moulded using the flame to his advantage and the black background really make the flames pop out from the page. This piece looked so complicated but id love to be able top aspire to do work even half as good as this.
This is an illustration I have made on adobe illustrator, it's the manchester imperial war museum. I used this building because of its unique shape, style and how different it was from other buildings I had seen in the north west. I put outlines around certain parts and filled them by using the dropper tool to get a true colour from the picture I had used. I also used different effects on the windows, grates and talk frame behind the building giving this building a realistic feel.
This is an illustration I had done a week prior to the one above of a student in my class, its not the best work I could of done but i've improved a lot when using adobe illustrator .
