20,000 leagues

                                            20,000 leagues under the sea.

We were given an assignment to created a piece of art work based on the works of the 1950's film 20,000 leagues under the sea. we were given about 6 weeks to complete our work which consisted of; research, concepts, designing and then our final piece. The picture had to consist of a giant squid and the nautilus we could also include the crew if we wanted but that wasn't a necessity.

I started to research 20,000 league under the sea, looking at the nautilus (the submarine) so I could then put my own twist on it and see how it actually looked when it was first put into the film. I then looked into the crew and I didn't really want to incorporate them into my picture. The Squid in my eyes would be the focal point of the picture, I thought the size of the squid was going to be very important as I didn't want it to be too small.

Now i had some sort of idea of what I wanted to accomplish, I started out drawing many designs and it wasn't till i was at home until I drew the picture which I kept and used for my final piece. (below)

My final piece I found was quite good although it wasn't really busy enough to change, although this was the final piece I Stuck with. Overall I'm really happy with the outcome though and i really enjoyed the actual development of my piece and watching it come to life week after week.

When I started to create it on the computer then it really came together it went from a idea to a picture, I added some effects to the moon and sky to blur it and make the moon look like it was giving of a beam of light.

In all I think the picture could of been made better if it was busier, I think it lacked that as it wasn't really busy enough but I had to use this,  it was hard to think of things other than bubbles that i could of used to make the picture look busier.
